Who Is Your Guide In Life?

Who Is Your Guide? Be careful who you follow. Once we were religiously following Suzy Q, a nickname for our GPS, as it was showing us a new route to Chicago. At one point Suzy lead us on a shortcut between Interstates, Suzy guided us down the mainstreet of a tiny town of about 50. Soon she guided us to turn off Main Street and led us down a gravel road that ended in a pasture. I unplugged Suzy and used a map. Be careful who you follow. “Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” (Psalm 25:4-5) In Psalms 25 David is in conflict. His enemies are unnamed but he speaks of being alone, afflicted, and anguished. David is confused about the way to go. We, too, have a multitude of choices and paths in life. What career to pick? Shall I have a double shot latte or a caramel cream molatta? What career will I pursue? Will I get up in time to exercise this morning? …
